ie6logo.gifI gotta say.....I am a little perturbed by the MASSIVE amount of work we web designers put into sites for a platform that was released in 2001. Ie7 was released in 2005...three years ago.

Seven years in the Internet world is like a thousand. Three years like a hundred.

With ie8 ready to release, it is becoming more and more popular to abandon ie6 dev all together. The reason? Well, simply put, people will not change unless they have to.

A user pulls a website up and it clearly does not look right, they will be more apt to update their software.

I wholeheartedly support this.

Of course....surfers could always go to a better platform all together such as Firefox, Safari, or Flock.

Why a CMS? And why Joomla!?

Before we can talk about why, we need to discover the "what". What is a CMS? A CMS (short for Content Management Solution) allows organizations to "distribute" the lofty weight of maintaining a website.

In years past, a company would pay for a web design, and then pay that same company a monthly fee to make changes, add new content, moderate...ect Enter CMS web design.

CMS offers total control over who can edit or add to certain sections of a website, and even what type of editing they can do. The benefit of this is obviously that several differing departments in your team can edit and publish content to their appropriate section of the website, and yet, have little to no access to anyone else's.
